A Giant Possum Helps Epilepsy in Queensland

Little Poss goes to great lengths to raise epilepsy awareness in Queensland. Fortunately the Queensland Fire Service was there to help when Little Poss needed a helping hand!

2012 Understanding Epilepsy Workshops (Woolloongabba) - For disability support workers, child care workers, teachers, nurses, allied health professionals, volunteers, people with epilepsy and their families. The 2012 dates are 16 February, 15 March, 19 April, 17 May, 14 June, 19 July, 16 August, 13 September, 18 October and 15 November. Epilepsy Queensland's 2012 Regional Visits - For people with epilepsy and their families, disability support workers, child care workers, teachers, nurses, allied health professionals and anyone with an interest in epilepsy. We will be visiting the following areas in 2012 - Roma (19 January), Gladstone (20 March), Mackay (11 April), Gold Coast (9 May), Sunshine Coast (12 June), Mt Isa (25-26 July), Townsville & Cairns (14-16 August) and Toowoomba (15 October). Volunteers....... we need your help! If you have a little time to spare and are keen to help us out we would love to hear from you. To meet the dedicated Epilepsy Queensland team and lean more about volunteering opportunities, we invite you to come along to a Morning Tea – held on the second Thursday of each month. Support Groups - Would you like to meet other people who are going through the same thing as you? Epilepsy Queensland currently has support groups running in Brisbane, Toowoomba, Gold Coast and Dalby. We also have a Dravet Syndrome interest group. It would be great if we had more!

We are in the process of setting up some new support groups and hope to set these groups up, not only by geographic location, but also by interest groups.

These interest areas could include the type of syndrome you or your child has like our Dravet Syndrome interest group or it could be organised by something else you have in common, such as age or gender.

If you are interested in being part of a group, please contact the Services Team and register your interest.
