Fundraising

Prior to undertaking the quiz, students are encouraged to fundraise and may wish to seek sponsorship from friends, family and local businesses. Sponsors may choose to donate an amount of money per correctly answered question. Alternatively, sponsors may find it easier to make a flat donation. All donations over $2.00 are tax deductible.

Teams and schools are also encouraged to fundraise as a group and fabulous prizes are given in recognition of this valued support.

Other fundraising ideas

Participate with Everyday Hero - become a hero and develop your own hero website so that your friends and family can see the fantastic work you are doing and leave a message of support. Click here to visit their site.

Give It Up - students give up something that they would have purchased and instead donate the money that would have been spent on that item to Epilepsy Queensland. Participants give up things like Friday night takeout and making lunch instead of buying from the school tuckshop. The goal is 100% participation, no matter how large or small, reinforcing the message that this is a whole community project. Raising funds in this manner helps students think about how much they have to be thankful for and what they could do without for a short period of time.

Giving from the Heart - each child is given a paper heart and asked to identify an additional chore they might do at home. The student's payment for doing the chores is then earmarked for donation to Epilepsy Queensland. Their heart with their name and donation is displayed on a ‘giving board’ at their school.

A Dollar a Day Campaign – a highly effective idea - each student and teacher tries to donate at least $1 each day for 1 or 2 weeks to Epilepsy Queensland. Parents can be asked to make matching pledges. The idea is simple, yet the response can be tremendous.

Bad Hair Day - students pay to come to school with their hair done in a crazy style…. Lots of fun!

Money Trail - make a trail at school between two points and see if the students can fill it with coins.

Dress down or up day - students dress in free dress or fancy dress and pay for the privilege.

Participate in Purple Day [click here] - 26 March each year.

Sell Merchandise – students and schools can sell Epilepsy Queensland’s Little Poss Appeal [Click here] merchandise – including light up pens, yoyos, keyrings, badges and wristbands.
