What's On

We have some great events coming up in 2018....

PURPLE DAY (26 March 2018)

Purple Day is a grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide. On 26 March each year, people from around the globe are asked to wear purple and spread the word about epilepsy. Purple Day was founded in 2008, by nine-year-old Cassidy Megan of Nova Scotia, Canada. Motivated by her own struggles with epilepsy, Cassidy started Purple Day in an effort to get people talking about the disorder and inform those with seizures that they are not alone. She named the day Purple Day after the internationally recognised colour for epilepsy, lavender. This year is the 10th anniversary of the very first Purple Day so we are urging everyone to help us make this Purple Day bigger and better than ever. Find out how to get involved here.

Volunteers....... we need your help! If you have a little time to spare and are keen to help us out we would love to hear from you. To meet the dedicated Epilepsy Queensland team and learn more about volunteering opportunities, we invite you to come along to a Morning Tea. For more information on volunteering or to save you a seat at a Morning Tea, please call us on 07 3435 5000 or email epilepsy@epilepsyqueensland.com.au. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Support Groups - Would you like to meet other people who are going through the same thing as you? Epilepsy Queensland currently has support groups running in Brisbane, Ipswich & Mackay. We also have the Dravet Syndrome and the Ketogenic/Atkins Diet Support Groups. It would be great if we had more!

We are in the process of setting up some new support groups and hope to set these groups up, not only by geographic location, but also by interest groups.

These interest areas could include the type of syndrome you or your child has like our Dravet Syndrome interest group or it could be organised by something else you have in common, such as age or gender.

If you are interested in being part of a group, please contact the Services Team and register your interest.

For more information about any of the above events, to express an interest or to get involved, please email rsvp@epilepsyqueensland.com.au or call 07 3435 5000 (1300 852 853 outside Brisbane).
